More About Trailey

Who We Are

We are nature lovers who want to share our love of the great outdoors with our fellow Austinians, while contributing to the preservation of our local natural spaces. We want to inspire, educate, and encourage women and LGBTQ+ folk of all ages to venture into the wild.

Our Mission

We want to make the outdoors more accessible to women and the LBGTQ+ community by being that active, outdoorsy best friend who drags you outside with her and you end up loving it as much as she does. We want to create a safe place where all ways are welcome and participants feel like they can express themselves, ask questions, and learn. We want to make outdoor activities available to everyone, regardless of previous experience, fitness level, age, or income level. We'll teach you the outdoor skills you need to safely and confidently go on your own adventures!

Flexible Pricing

We want our services to be available to everyone, regardless of their income! Our hikes and trips are priced on a sliding scale, and reduced fees are available on the honor system.  All services are listed at the full price and also have discounted ticket prices available. Every guest is treated the same regardless of what they are able to pay, and we will not share the price that you choose to pay with any other guests.

We ask that you please pay full price if you can. When you pay full price, you help provide services to those who may not have the means to get outside on their own. Your full price payment also helps us purchase gear and necessities, so we can provide free or low cost rental equipment to those who need it.

Kelly West

Owner & Founder

Hello there! My life story is a little long, so I’ll try to keep it short and simple. I grew up in Atlanta, GA, and was raised mostly by my mother. She constantly took us (me, my sister, and my brother) out to go hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, and sometimes climbing. She really instilled a love of the outdoors in me and taught me soo many skills that I use today.
I moved around a bit before settling down in Austin. I worked in the restaurant industry for 10+ years and then retired to become a kayak tour guide. After that, I went to work with a conservation crew in Colorado last fall and then I returned to Austin to be a crew leader with a conservation crew here. And now, I’m doing this thing!
I love running, hiking, backpacking, climbing, and basically just hanging outside. Some of my favorite places I’ve been are the Maroon Bells, Hill Country SNA, Indian Creek, and the Grand Canyon. However, I am completely content exploring the hill country and finding new trails in Austin!
